Blog #3 4/2/2022 : GasPack boys playoff run

Ending our season in 4th place out of 23 teams was a bitter sweet ending. Showing major progress the last 2 seasons we couldn’t be too upset showing that we are throwing great as a team. We started off playoffs with 2 tough wins against teams we knew that would be a problem. Throwing fallout X’s again we found a smooth rhythm and made some great shots and attacked early on to gain some momentum and confidence while preparing to face the top team in our league. Coming into the matchup we had been waiting for we felt like we were throwing good enough to make it through them and continue to advance into the king seat. My partner djay started off hot and was making alot of great shots that kept us into the game, while I was throwing good, my comfortability with the bags really showed making errors on throws that should have been guaranteed points. After battling through the first game and experiencing score issues with the ipad scoring system we went down the first game 21-13. Trying to gain our composure on the 2nd game we continued to battle through, but my lack of confidence in throwing those bags really showed causing us to lose the 2nd game and get moved down to the losers bracket.  My partner was throwing great and I was still trying to find my throw. We finally got to relax for a few minutes and talk about some things to work on the next round and when it was our time to start our match we got back some confidence. We started off the losers bracket with a great win. catching a great rhythm we won 21-3 and were looking forward to the next game knowing if we won we were going to have the podium games right after. We started off the game hot scoring 13-2 right off the bat and tried to Keep it going to finish off the game. Well the other team found a great stride and made an awesome comeback to make it 14-12. I am partly to blame as I couldn’t catch a few tough break and still struggled to find my sweet spot with those bags. The game changer for us was when the scoring system messed up on us again during a crucial time during the game. My partner was throwing hot all day without delays and by the time they fixed the scoring issues, it threw him off just that one round out of the entire playoffs giving up 7 and changing the score to 19-14. Knowing I had to keep us in the game I started off with one in and the next right around the hole and then I felt the bag come off my hand wrong and missed the hole by a few inches and by the time I knew it I had one bag in the hole and 2 bags on the board with one hanging. I got lucky and the guy I was throwing against had missed one to the right. Know I had a big shot to prepare for I went ahead and went for the airmail drag and to everybody’s surprise I threw a great shot and had the airmail grab the other bag off the corner but instead of dragging it in it only stayed on top of the other bag. Causing us to lose the final game of our season. Upset with that shot I couldn’t be mad knowing we had another great run this season with alot of tough competitors. My partner took it hard giving up a big round towards the end, but regardless he threw great all season and playoffs. We had another great season and finally found bags we know we can throw great together. We had our friends that help create team GasPack Corey and Ralph play some great games and eventually fell to some of the top teams in the league. They been showing great improvement the last few seasons and are only getting better the more they play. Overall it was a great season for everybody and as we continue to play more our game has been getting better every week. The GasPack boys will be back hopefully soon with a podium finish in our next season!
