Blog #6 5/1/2022 : Honeymoon cruise with a splash of cornhole

After our 7 day honeymoon cruise we are finally back home! So sorry there was not very much cornhole excitement to add, but I didn’t say there wasn’t any at all! 7 days is a long time on a ship and there’s only so much gambling and drinking I can handle. But to my luck looking through the “what’s happening page” on the carnival cruise ship app I found they were hosting a “Bean bag toss tourney”. So instantly I told my wife, “well….you know where I’ll be at for a few hours”. Of course I didn’t expect any ACL regulation bags or anything professional grade so I went to check it out to get some reps in. I arrived at the tourney and was shocked to find some Ultra boards with the carnival logo and around 20 plus teams that signed up. It was pretty cool meeting a bunch of great people and unfortunately at first I had a rough start finding a partner until the last minute I got paired with a cool guy from Maine named Matt. Once we signed up and found out the prize was a trophy and some free beer it peaked our excitement even more! So the carnival worker hosting the tourney ran this tourney a little different with the amount of people and only having one board they decided that each side only had one round to throw and whoever scored the most points won the game. With no warm up or time to get comfortable the games were on their way! I talked to my partner and asked them how offer he plays and his response was the typical backyard player response, “ I play with my buddies at the house and usually beat them all”. Hearing that I still had faith in my partner of course and as soon as we heard our name we went up to shoot. To my surprise he was a pretty good shooter! He put up some points on our opponents really quick, allowing me to take some risk and extend the lead even higher. We rolled through 5 games and found ourselves in the championship game. We ran through the championship game beating the other team 11-2 (carnival director only wanted us to play to 11) after some score controversy with some drunk spectators of course, but ended the game with our guaranteed prize of a trophy and free beer! It was great just to hangout and play a little no matter if it wasn’t highly competitive as we are used to in most tourneys and leagues. Overall our honeymoon was awesome and wish it didn’t end so soon. But with more new patch designs and an apparel line coming soon we are all optimistic with what the future holds for us! Thanks for tuning in and hope y’all check us out again next week!
